It’s August in Houston, the temps are unbearable, you’ve bought several great summer frocks at all of the great sales around town, and where can you wear them without scorching your great “deals” or yourself? Well, one great deal deserves another, I say! You can keep cool, literally, with some great indoor activity that will not break your bank but can do wonders to support another bank, the Houston Food Bank. Yes, it’s that time of year again….Houston Restaurant Weeks begins today, August 1 and continues through August 31.
What cool recreation is better than eating at many of the finest restaurants in the city, at great prices on fixed menus that give dollars from your meal to feed the less fortunate and hungry folks in our community. This event showcases and promotes Houston’s incredible array of fine restaurants (165+participating) to the fine dining crowd while raising money for Houston Food Bank.
“Houston Restaurant Weeks gives people in Houston an opportunity to experience Houston’s exceptional restaurants while providing much-needed relief for families suffering from hunger,” said Brian Greene, CEO of the Houston Food Bank.

Last year this event broke records by raising $800,000 for HFB, and their goal this year is to exceed a million. I’m making my first stop for lunch this Friday, and I’m sure to see many giving Houstonians out there making this a fun, cool August happening, while giving back to our community.
The following are a few examples of all of the different types of restaurants involved. Please check the HRW site and the listing, you will be amazed!
