Feature-for-Blog

You never know what you can expect from London Fashion Week. Since it is still a relatively new fashion week, the designers and even the people attending can be full of unexpected surprises. This was most notorious by the eclectic group in the front row of TopShop Unique; from Kate Moss and her little sister to Anna Wintour sitting next to Kendall Jenner. Here are other highlights from London Fashion Week Fall 2014.

Mulberry unveiled their new  handbag collection ‘made-in-England Cara Delevingne Collection’ in collaboration with British super model and face of Mulberry Cara Delevinge. Also launching a handbag line is designer Christopher Kane, who just won the ELLE Style Award for British Designer of the Year 2014.

The relatively new Simon Rocha is definitely the one to watch! Her elegant silhouette with sheer fabrics (her signature since the beginning) seems to slowly evolve into an incredible collection, especially when it comes to the craftsmanship of each of her pieces.

Other favorites were:

Erden- Just the fact that he was able to create such a beautiful and dark collection by gathering inspiration from French icons of the sixties such as Anna Karina and Betty Catroux, with seventeenth-century paintings from Velázquez infantas,  and eighteenth-century botanical prints. All of this combined makes this one of my favorite shows.

Burberry- When you think of London you think of Burberry. Unlike rainy gloomy London, the fall 2014 collection was full of prints and colors and with a very boho feeling. Most of the fabrics seemed sheer and soft, while others were covered by the iconic trench coat or an oversized scarf (or in the case of Cara Delevinge a monogram blanket.) My favorite part was to see so many hand-painted accessories such as  bags and shoes, scarves and blankets.

Christopher Kane- Always creating amazing layers for fall, Kane is continuously one of my favorites from London.  I was extremely impressed of how well he was able to combine masculinity and femininity in one collection.

Mary Katrantzou- Katrantzou is usually known as the queen of prints, but surprisingly for the fall 2014 collection, her usual digital print was kept to a minimum. In the all evolving world of fashion, Katrantzou wanted to expand her creativity by working with laces, jacquards, and brocades. And good thing she did because she was able to show us another side of herself.

And, of course, Tom Ford –
