UNIQLO Lands in Houston: A Grand Opening Celebration of Modern Style Meets Local Flavor

If you haven't been yet, you must stop by

Fellow fashion lovers, I have some exciting news for those of you who, like me, have been eagerly awaiting UNIQLO’s arrival. The global brand known for its LifeWear line—a seamless blend of comfort, style, and quality— finally opened its first Houston store at Memorial City Mall! This wasn’t just a store opening, though. UNIQLO knows how to throw a party, and they celebrated Texas-style with an all-weekend extravaganza that brought together style, culture, and our fabulous Houston community.

The grand opening celebration started with a bang, or rather, a beat—thanks to a traditional Japanese Taiko drum performance that set an energetic tone. The event didn’t stop there. In true Houston spirit, UNIQLO teamed up with Harmony House, Inc., a local nonprofit dedicated to helping the community. It’s always nice to see big brands making meaningful connections in the cities they call home.

And if you were one of those early birds who lined up for the opening weekend, you know there were even more goodies in store. The first 300 guests each day snagged a special knot bag packed with surprises! It’s just one of the ways UNIQLO showed their appreciation for Houstonians and got us all excited about the brand.

In a city as colorful and diverse as Houston, you know we love a little local flair—and UNIQLO delivered! The Memorial City Mall location features exclusive UTme! T-shirts and tote bags with designs by some of our own talented artists and small businesses. These aren’t just any designs, either; they capture the essence of Houston in a way that’s truly one-of-a-kind. A few local stars you’ll find in the collection include:

  • 93’ Til (@_ninetythreetil): This Montrose-based record bar and restaurant has designed pieces that capture the vibe of good tunes and great eats in Houston’s nightlife scene.
  • CAPDAVJON (@capdavjon): Mexican-American artist David Maldonado brings the bold, expressive flair of folk art and street culture to his work, celebrating Houston’s vibrant culture.
  • Crawfish & Noodles (@crawfishandnoodles): This local gem, known for Viet-Cajun flavors, offers designs that blend Vietnamese roots with a Houston twist.
  • Donkeeboy & Donkeemom (@donkeeboy): Houston’s favorite mother-son duo is bringing playful creativity to their Pop Art-inspired designs, honoring local culture through vibrant visuals.

These exclusive pieces are available for a full year, but they’re limited edition—so snag them while they’re still here!

If you’re just as curious as I am about what else this store has to offer, let me tell you—UNIQLO Memorial City is not your average shopping stop. Beyond the Houston-themed designs, UNIQLO Memorial City offers staple pieces that have gained a global fanbase, like the ultra-popular Mini Round Shoulder Bag, Flannel Shirts, and Smart Ankle Pants. Shoppers can also enjoy the hands-on customization with UTme!, where they can create personalized T-shirts and totes, and the RE.UNIQLO program, which focuses on sustainable practices like repairs and upcycling.

With services designed to make fashion personal, UNIQLO’s Memorial City location offers a refreshing approach to style, blending function, and meaning with a bit of Houston flair.

So, Houston fashion lovers, it’s time to explore UNIQLO! Whether you’re a fan of effortlessly stylish basics or unique local art, UNIQLO’s new store at Memorial City Mall offers the perfect chance to celebrate your style with pieces that are as versatile as they are timeless.
