I am thrilled to share with you an exclusive peek into one of the most glamorous luncheon events of the season…..the Social Book’s Inaugural “Best of the Best” Awards Luncheon. Held on June 5th, this event was an enchanting celebration of Houston’s finest charitable events and a tribute to the incredible individuals and their tireless hard work, that make them happen.

The luncheon took place at the Ballroom at Bayou Place, nestled in Houston’s vibrant Theater District. This historical venue, once the Albert Thomas Convention Center, now boasts a magnificent ballroom that can host up to 640 seated guests or 1,550 for a standing reception. With in-house catering, décor, and entertainment provided by Kirksey Gregg Productions and J&D Entertainment, the ballroom was the perfect setting for this Academy Awards-style event.

Red Carpet Glamour

Guests were welcomed in true Hollywood fashion, walking a red carpet and being greeted by the unique Champagne Madame Zéro Portrait Wall, where a gloved hand offered flutes of chilled champagne through a framed picture. The ambiance was further enlivened by Marilyn Monroe and Groucho Marx look-alikes, living golden statues, and an array of entertainment acts that set the tone for an afternoon of fun and celebration.

Awarding Excellence

The highlight of the luncheon was, of course, the awards presentation. Modeled after the Oscars, the ceremony honored Houston’s top non-profit organizations and event partners. Esteemed individuals and couples from the community presented awards in 24 categories, celebrating organizations like Houston Children’s Charity, Salvation Army and the Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation, among others.

Fashion Forward

Adding to the glamour, models from Page Parkes Texas, dressed in stunning outfits from Saks Fifth Avenue, presented the awards. The décor by Kirksey Gregg Productions featured elegant centerpieces of white roses and hydrangeas, complemented by sequined black tablecloths and golden accents, creating a visually stunning backdrop reminiscent of an Academy Awards telecast.

Star-Studded Attendees

The event was graced by notable Houstonians such as Linda McReynolds, Rose Cullen, Susan Boggio, and Laura Stein, to name a few. Their presence added an extra sparkle to the event, making it a true gathering of the city’s social elite.

A Special Touch

Eight times throughout the event, guests at entire tables were gifted with special prizes, announced by Johnny “Bravo” Holloway’s adorable 5-year-old daughter, Rosie. These prizes, provided by generous Social Book partners, added an extra layer of excitement to an already unforgettable afternoon.

The Social Book’s 2024 “Best of the Best” Awards Luncheon was a resounding success, celebrating the hard work and dedication of Houston’s non-profit organizations and their event partners. It was a day filled with glamour, gratitude, and a true sense of community spirit. I’m already looking forward to next year’s celebration and the continued recognition of those who make our city shine!

  1. My daughter was one of the Page Parkes models! 🙂 I should have known you would be there so she could introduce herself.
