Today may seem like any other really hot Summer day, but there is actually something to celebrate. No, it isn’t going to rain….it is National Lipstick Day! It is also National Chicken Wing Day and National Lasagna Day so if you ask me, today is going to be great!
So what is this Day O’Lipstick, you ask? Influencer Huda Kattan is credited with starting this celebratory event and it is a great time to break out your favorite shade or to test new grounds with a bold new hue. Regardless of how you will celebrate, there are several new brands that have launched really great formulas that are worth checking out. The Original Me High Performance Matte Lipstick is highly pigmented, creamy, vegan, and available in 6 shades. The red is perfect….and you know exactly what it will look like because Gwen has been wearing it for 30 years!
Makeup by Mario Ultra Suede Lipstick
Mario made his name as Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist so there was much excitement when he launched his own brand because he knows quality. These lipsticks are uber-creamy and soft on the lips yet have a ton of pigment. There are 20 shades but the Rasa, a pinky rose, is my favorite.
I have slowly become a huge fan of this entire line – I love the ingredients they use and the foundation has become my go to but I digress. The Le Monster (she calls her fans Monsters) Lip Crayon Vegan Lipstick and Lip Liner is the perfect all in one. It has a precise point to line the lips and it creamy enough to fill them in. These have great color payoff and a great matte feel but if you feel you want a but of gloss, layer one of her Lip Oils on top.
Guerlain Rouge G Refillable Lipstick
I have loved Guerlain lipsticks for years – they know how to do reds! They are consistently great with a creamy application, intense color, and a great satin finish. The packaging is always the right amount of elegance and I love that they now offer this refillable option.
Huda Beauty Power Bullet Matte Lipstick
Giving the founder of National Lipstick Day her due, her lipstick is fantastic! It is a one-swipe payoff that is creamy and long-lasting. There are several flattering shades with a comfortable matte finish in her collection so I know you will find one that you love.
Pat McGrath MatteTrance Lipstick
OK, is this packaging the cutest thing, ever?! I love pulling it out of my handbag! As only Pat McGrath would do, the inside is as high quality and fabulous as the outside! The formula is soft and smooth on the lips and delivers a great lightweight matte finish. Try their Skin Fetish Blush as well….so lovely!
Now of course, I am still a huge fan of NARS, Tom Ford, and Chanel lipsticks. Those will always be staples in my lip wardrobe but I am eternally searching for the next best thing! Most brands will be having sales today as well so be sure to stock up!
