What an exciting evening it was when Houston native, St. John’s School alumn debuted his exclusive collection at Neiman Marcus Houston Galleria. It was an intimate cocktail reception, fashion presentation co-chaired by Neiman Marcus and local fashion empress Duyen Ngyen and her hubby, Marc. It was an evening filled with the energy of a celebration as part of the NM continued strategy of championing emerging talent. For this evening, it also represented a special homecoming for CFDA nominee Bach Mai as he returned to his hometown to celebrate his collection launch and the energy was in the air.
In addition to Neiman’s top customers, Bach’s family, friends and classmates from St. John’s school, where Bach hosted his first fashion show in high school, were very much in attendance, many with their Moms, beaming with pride at the accomplishments of their classmate. Guests shopped his Collection 0 and enjoyed an exclusive preview of his Resort 2023 collection available that evening for pre-order exclusively at NM.
Bach Mai is a prime example of Neiman Marcus’ dedication to discovering new and remarkable talent while cultivating lasting relationships with luxury fashion brands…..both rising and established. Bach Mai launched his eponymous brand in late 2021 and the Dallas-based luxury retailers was proud to have discovered this emerging designer and his brand within a year of its inception.

About Bach Mai: (I don’t normally give this level of detail but its just such a great story about one of our own!)
Born and raised in Houston, Texas to Vietnamese immigrant parents, Bach developed a love for fashion and particularly haute couture at a young age when he started making dresses for his family members and friends. His first foray in the fashion world was as a costume apprentice at Houston Ballet. He then studied fashion design at Parsons School of Design in New York City whereupon graduation he was nominated for Parsons’ Womenswear Designer of the Year. Following design stints at Calvin Klein and Oscar de la Renta, he moved to Paris where he received a master’s degree in fashion design from the Institut Français de la Mode. Bach then designed for Prabal Gurung before joining the team at Maison Margiela under John Galliano where he served as First Design Assistant to the Creative Director with a focus on the Artisanal Haute Couture collections. Upon his return to New York from Paris in 2019, Bach launched his eponymous brand in late 2021.
American ingenuity and craftsmanship are apparent throughout as the entire collection is proudly made in the USA in the heart of the garment district in New York City. Bach has a special partnership with Hurel Paris, one of the oldest and most prestigious fabric houses in France, giving him unique access to luxurious and innovative materials that display the height of French savoire-faire.
