Kate Spade’s new SATURDAY Store opens on University Blvd., Rice Village
Everyone loves the weekend and the more relaxed weekend attitude is a feeling that we want to last all week long. Well, Kate Spade NY, has captured that feeling in its newest design venture, which it has named Kate Spade Saturday, designed with the same DNA as it’s big sister. It has opened its only third location in the U.S. and first in Texas, right here in our Rice Village at 2513 University Boulevard. This concept which began in March of this year, as a flagship store and e-commerce site in Japan, quickly took off when they brought it to the states as a pop-up shop in NYC Meat Packing District and recently on to L.A. and now right here in Houston, Texas. When I asked Kyle Andrews, Senior V.P. of Marketing, here in town for the grand opening last Saturday, “why Houston for your 3rd U.S. store?”, her reply was, “Kate Spade NY has always done very well in Texas and especially in Houston and with all the growth happening in here these days, it just made sense.” The store opened this past Saturday with a DJ and ice cream party and it will continue to have “Saturday parties” for the rest of the month.
The design of the 1,100 square foot store is very in keeping with the feel of the product. The look, very simplistic, clean and modern styling, well organized to encourage ease of shopping and lends itself to the mix and match concept of outfit building. The look of Kate Spade, which has always been just that…..simple and clean with pops of lots of color is very apparent in the store. The beauty of this new line is that it is Kate Spade at roughly half the price of the NY line, slightly more modern and with a younger attitude, (though many styles I feel to be ageless) but all definitely more relaxed and pieces that are easy to wear and put together as outfits.
Just as in Kate Spade NY, Kate Spade Saturday stores include all categories…..apparel, footwear, accessories, tech accessories and select home products. All with that same clean, modern aesthetic and bold pops of color that is so Kate Spade.

Update on Kate Spade NY in Houston area: Galleria store continues; KSNY flagship opening in Highland Village in Spring 2014 and another KSNY store opening in Woodlands planned for this November.
