River Oaks District has added to its collection of fine contemporary retailers with the recent opening of Veronica Beard on September 20; this marks the eighth Veronica Beard brick-and-mortar opening in the United States. Since launching the brand in 2016, co-designers and sisters-in-law Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard have built a brand known for its refined tailoring and feminine silhouettes. Located adjacent to the esteemed Bella Rinova Salon, the 1,750-square-foot space will showcase the brand’s ready-to-wear women’s clothing and footwear collections.
“We are so pleased to bring this wildly popular female-led brand to the Houston Market,” stated Rosalind Schurgin, CEO of Festival Companies, which leases and manages the River Oaks District. She continued, “Adding Veronica Beard to River Oaks District’s already coveted collection of retailers aligns with our strategy to continually expand our offerings, by bringing unique, first to market retailers to River Oaks District. The addition of Veronica Beard will continue to elevate the customers’ shopping experience at River Oaks District.”
Co-designers Veronica Miele and Veronica Swanson Beard worked alongside renowned Interior designer, Carolina de Neufville to conceptualize the space with an eclectic mix of furniture, including two Scout acrylic tables, modern trapezium red shell chairs, a rattan credenza, and a sofa upholstered in Schumacher nyphaea fuchsia fabric. A departure from the classic leopard print used in Veronica Beard retail stores, the Houston location features pink leopard print curtains that open the retail floor, complementing a pink tessellated stone coffee table and pink fitting room curtains.
“We wanted each Veronica Beard store to have its own DNA and to feel special. For our retail debut in Houston, we put a great deal of time into creating an atmosphere that local shoppers will quickly fall in love with,” noted Veronica Swanson Beard. She added, “No two Veronica Beard stores are created to be exactly alike in design; the Houston location at River Oaks District was specifically designed with the Houston customer in mind.”
Veronica Beard celebrated its opening by way of an in-store cocktail reception co-hosted by the Veronicas. A Fare Extraordinaire catered the event with passed hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktails and wunderkind DJ Maddy Rose entertained the crowd.
