Oh my, how hair salons have evolved! It makes sense that as everyone I know is busier and busier and has minimum time for what we call the beauty necessities of life, but cannot survive without them…..something had to happen! That happening has become known as Blow Dry Bars and the newest, hippest to come along is the “Do Bar”…yes, there was a day when we referred to our tresses as hair-do’s and how cool are these folks to revive that retro name?!
This transplant from its temporary home at Craft Salon is slated to be a standout from the original blow-dry salon concept. With a focus on technology and an extra menu developed just for men, this blow dry bar has the most to offer!
So if all that you need for your (hair)do is a simple wash and blow-dry, the Do Bar is your place! Just opening this week on the 2nd floor of West Ave, you can go there and get lots of glam for not a lot of bucks…”affordable luxury” as they call it. All blow-out-only styles start at $35. We have selected photos from the Do Bar’s varied menu, the styling examples that we feel will be the most popular with you, our readers, but there are many more options. Additional services are also available and can be added to any blow-dry, including make-up by Sarah Tucker Artistry for $50, Updo’s starting at $55, 10-minute neck and shoulder massages, braids, conditioning, and more. Don’t forget that exciting menu especially for men!
The big news for all of you techies or techie-wannabe’s out there is that you will check in and out with iPod Touches, and each styling station will be equipped with iPads filled with all of the latest magazines and newspapers.
Another nice note about the Do Bar Girls, as I referred to them when they lent their helping hands to us for our Recipe for Success Sachin + Babi show at Tootsies in May, is that they have significant plans to give back to the community. They are planning monthly events, including their September grand opening, which will benefit non-profits and their causes.
The Do Bar will be open 7 days a week, Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 8 pm and Sundays noon to 6 pm. Scheduled to open this Wednesday, July 12 with several special packages. For all of the scoop on what’s available, or to make your reservation, head to their website, http://www.thedobar.com or call 713-521-4425.
See ya there!
