Amir Taghi Fall Winter collection debuts at Deborah Colton Gallery, Houston
Houston based designer, Amir Taghi’s well-received, Fall Winter Collection is inspired by the opulence of the Persian culture. Despite the beauty and feminism of the magnificent culture, the government’s regime restrains the splendor of details. Amir visited Iran where he worked with women that made these spectacular jackets for his collection. (All other pieces were made here in Houston in collaboration with David Peck at his studio in Houston) He tried to show the duality of the country in this collection. He explored luminous fabrics as well as draping, representing the rich sense of design that Iran is known for. He also constructed other pieces in a rigid manor showing the constraint the women have living in the country. Amir’s desire was to show the opulent culture that emerges him.
Stay tuned for more details as Amir ventures off to the U.K. to take a design course at the famed, Central St. Martin’s College of Art & Design in London where many famous designers have studied. He also revealed his plans to show his Spring 2015 Collection at NYFW this September……very exciting few months for this young man!
