On the second weekend in November, The 5th Annual Butcher’s Ball returned in Brenham, Texas for the first time in two years. gathered to celebrate awareness & interest in local Texas agricultural products. This event, always attended unanimously by my family is a fun favorite event that again, this year, did not disappoint!
The weekend’s festivities kicked off with a multi-course, farm-to-table dinner put together by twelve top-tier Texas chefs. Following were plenty of educational classes, demonstrations, workshops and panels. There was no shortage of fun however, with live music and an auction, masterfully created craft beer & cocktails, a local farmer’s market, and of course a meat showcase!
This year’s winner of the meat showcase (pictured in our feature image holding the coveted Golden Cleaver award) was Tony Luhrman, Chef and Owner of El Topo, with his dish Taco Suadero. You can try his winning dish now at the West University restaurant location.
The Butcher’s Ball has raised $100,000+ in philanthropic contributions for various food-related organizations throughout Texas, including Houston’s own non-profit Urban Harvest. You can learn more about The Butcher’s Ball on their website.
